. MesoCoat, an Abakan subsidiary that developed the CermaClad™ technology, received the award at the Pipeline Industries Guild National Dinner in London on March 12, 2013. The CermaClad™ high-speed large-area clad pipe technology produces a superior metallurgical clad pipe product for the oil and gas industry, where availability of metallurgical clad pipes and the associated lead time have been a major concern.
Wall Street Journal’s Technology Innovation Award
MesoCoat wins first prize in Wall Street Journal’s global Technology Innovation Awards for Manufacturing Technology. MesoCoat Inc., takes the top spot for its CermaClad™ metal-coating process. CermaClad™ sets a new, hard-to-meet benchmark in productivity, performance, and cost in the metal coating and cladding industry, offering up to two orders of magnitude improvement over current state-of-the-art cladding technologies.

The annual NorTech Innovation Awards program honors the achievements of companies, entrepreneurs, universities and nonprofit organizations who have taken their creative concepts from vision to realities which are impacting our everyday lives. MesoCoat was honored as a remarkable organization twice in three years for setting new world standards for technological advancement in environmentally friendly metal coatings (PComP), and high-speed large-area metal cladding to provide up to 100 year design life for steel assets (CermaClad).
MesoCoat, Inc., together with The Edison Materials Technology Center (EMTEC) and Polythermics, LLC has been awarded $1.79 million by National Institute of Standards & Technology through its Technology Innovation Program. The funds are being used to develop a novel coating technology using a high-intensity infrared light source to fuse and bond nanocomposite metal coatings and claddings to large steel structures such as bridges, oil rigs and pipelines to provide up to a 100 year design life.
